Former Minister of Foreign Affairs and one time Transport Minister, Ojo Maduekwe is dead!
The news has thrown Nigerians and Peoples Democratic Party into mourning.
He died around 7pm on Wednesday at a hospital in Abuja after taking ill on the plane while returning home from the US, via Dubai.
He was 71 years old.
Walid Jubrin, chairman of BOT said, Maduekwe died when he was needed the most.
He passed on at a critical time when we needed him most. I was waiting for him to come back from U.S. where he travelled to so that we can find a way of addressing the problems in the party,” he said.
He was a good man and an intelligent person, who can always find a way out of situations. The party will mourn him. We have lost a great man. I would have loved to come back immediately, but we have started the process already, but I will devote my time here in Saudi Arabia to pray for his family, he said
Ebenezer Babatope, another former minister of transportation, also expressed his shock at the news. Saying he was a wonderful man to know.
He was a nice man. He was very intellectual in all his ways. He was a plain person, he had no animosity towards anyone. We spoke about three weeks ago and I never knew that we were speaking for the last time.
